Prior to the 2013 Finals between Chicago and Boston, the last time a pair of Original Six teams met in the Stanley Cup Finals was 1979 when the Rangers faced off with the Montreal Canadiens. The Rangers won Game One at the Montreal Forum that year, and grabbed a 2-0 lead in Game Two, before the Canadiens rallied and eventually won the series---and The Cup---in five games.
Earlier this week Jim Cerny from BlueshirtsUnited.com caught up with former Blueshirts winger Steve Vickers at the Rangers Coke Zero Golf Outing in Westchester to reminisce about the magical playoff run of 1979, and falling short against Montreal.
See what Steve Vickers had to say, then share your comments and memories of 1979 below.
