The Rangers found themselves trailing the Bruins midway through the third period with their season on the line. With the man advantage, Brian Boyle knotted it all up.

Boyle received a pass from Derek Stepan in the slot, and he fired a lost wrist shot passed Tuukka Rask for the team's first power play goal since their series against the Washington Capitals, to knot the game, 3-3. The game would eventually go into overtime before the Chris Kreider won it to keep the Blueshirts alive.
