It took more than 63 minutes for a puck to go in, and luckily for the Rangers, it came off their stick. Just over three minutes into the overtime period with the Rangers and Islanders deadlocked, 0-0, Derick Brassard received a pass from Michael Del Zotto at center ice. He carried the puck inside the blueline and flipped a backhand pass between two Islanders onto the tape of Dan Girardi, who went top-shelf over the stick of Evgeni Nabokov for the game-winner that sent the thousands of Rangers fans in attendance at Nassau Coliseum home happy.
