Rangers head coach John Tortorella and his staff are faced with a different kind of training camp this season---one that is much shorter than normal---meaning that Torts must adapt and alter his usual camp plan. That was evident on the first day of training camp on Sunday when the players did not have to undergo fitness testing and instead went straight into intense competitive drills.
Tortorella explained after practice that he is going to watch his players very closely to make sure he psuhes them, but excessively, making sure to avoid injury as best as he can. The head coach also discussed Sunday's signings of Michael Del Zotto and Matt Gilroy and the health of star winger Marian Gaborik, while referring to Rick Nash as "a helluva' player".
