Needing a victory in order to reach the medal round of the 2013 World Junior Championships, the United States roared out of the gates Monday, scoring five first-period goals en-route to a 9-3 victory over Slovakia. Team USA thus advanced to the quarterfinals and will face the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
Rangers prospect JT Miller recorded a pair of assists in Monday's victory, and fellow Blueshirts draft pick Peter Ceresnak earned an assist for Slovakia.
