With John Tortorella, Mike Sullivan, Jim Schoenfeld, and Jeff Gorton all watching, the Connecticut Whale dropped their 2012-13 season opener 6-4 to the Bridegport Sound Tigers Friday night in Hartford. Kris Newbury did score twice for the Whale, which also received a penalty shot goal and an assist from rookie Kyle Jean, and a power play goal from Mike Vernace.
