Stemkowski on the Spot

Pete Stemkowski, who turns 69 on Saturday, will always be remembered for his heroics in the Rangers' triple-overtime victory over Chicago in Game 6 of the 1971 Stanley Cup semifinals at The Garden. Stemkowski, however, was hardly a flash in the pan. He spent six full seasons with the Blueshirts, scored over 200 career NHL goals, and also won the Cup with the last Toronto team to achieve that feat in 1967. BlueshirtsUnited.com's Jim Cerny put "Stemmer" to the test recently, when he asked him to go on the spot for some word association. Hear Stemkowski's immediate reaction to a number of topics, including Marian Gaborik's goal in a game that lasted longer than his 1971 classic, some of his former Rangers teammates, and the team's recent acquisition of NHL star Rick Nash.
