For the second time on this homestand, Brad Richards scored a scintillating power play goal off a coast-to-coast rush Wednesday night against Detroit, this time bursting past all four Red Wings on the ice before beating hapless goalie Ty Conklin with 5:02 remaining in the first period.
The goal was a clutch one, too, for Richards, as it pulled the Rangers even 1-1 on the scoreboard.
"Richie's goal was a really big one for us," said Henrik Lundqvist after the game. "It calmed things down for us a little bit."
