A similar storyline could play out between Maggie and Gregory in Season 9. After Negan and Carson leave Dwight sneaks back into Eugene's cell and tries to convince him of his arrangement with Rick so Eugene doesn't give into Negan's demands but Eugene doesn't believe him and accuses him of playing both sides and that if he had defected he would have put a knife through Negan's head while asleep, but Dwight insists that he is going to kill Negan when the time is right and not when there are too many people who'd kill him for his betrayal. Tara, in the meantime, seems to have taken up many of his day-to-day duties behind the scenes. Dwight explains that the Saviors lack the ammunition to fully destroy the town and will have to stop soon at which point they can head for the Hilltop.
He then offers Dwight the chance to sleep with Sherry or any of his other wives, but Dwight turns him down. Dwight responds with passing Daryl information revealing the location of the Saviors compounds and patrols as well as the number of Savior stationed at them. Maggie threatens to kill all of the prisoners if Simon, the de facto leader of the Saviors, doesn't stop an attack on Hilltop. After forcing the Alexandria and Kingdom residents back to Hilltop Negan launches an attack on the colony where Dwight is forced to kill some members of the communities but after sneaking up on Rick, Negan orders Dwight to kill Rick. However men were sent to find the four and ambushed them on a road 20 miles away from the , and were separated from Patty. They tell Daryl they are not going back to the community, and Daryl is their insurance in case they are found while they look for Patty a fuel truck.
That could mean trouble for the series, since the role she plays will be essential as we head into Season 9. She leaves the Alexandria Safe-Zone and relocates to The Hilltop Colony. Maggie is initially insecure and depressed, even attempting suicide at one point after her entire family is killed. But for now, her story has come to a halt. After Maggie left, it led to uncertainty and instability within the community. When Glenn accidentally grabs a box of condoms for Maggie to see, I chuckled heartily.
But what happened to Maggie? Leaving things for the moment, they return to their rooms. Maggie yearns for a child, but Glenn and Hershel turn down the notion when they remind her of the cruel reality they are living in; despite this, however, she still holds out hope that she will be able to at some point when they have a more secure and better supplied environment. However, her feelings for Glenn become stronger after he saves her from a walker during another supply run. Maggie was not perfect and made mistakes, but she was the leader Hilltop needed.
Flashing over to Hilltop, we get our first inkling or what happened to Maggie since we last saw her trying to save Rick from a bridge explosion in episode five. Eugene decides to throw anyway, but Dwight shoots the drone carrying an iPod before it can attract the walkers. To explain why she was doing it and what her plans and goals were. They encounter , who helps them escape but Dwight betrays Daryl, stealing his crossbow and his motorcycle. Alden asks if he can help, but Maggie sends him back to the others inside.
Tara and Jesus were there as support during the Gregory days. It was during this time that her once-strong sense of faith began to dwindle, and she was left with doubts about what she believed in. Maggie, Jesus and citizens of the Hilltop travel to Alexandria and join Rick and the others are they battle Negan and the Saviors, causing Negan to flee. Next: Maggie has bones to pick with another central character, too.
Maggie and Carol then meet back up with Rick and the group and head back to Alexandria. Alden explains that the other Saviors escaped but that he stayed as he has no reason to follow Negan anymore. She is comforted by Sasha and Jesus, but is forced to deal with Gregory's ignorance and his refusal to keep them there and changes to the last name Rhee. When Bob is shot, she escapes the prison with and Bob. However, Hershel's leg is bitten and amputated in the process.
What happened to all that? Read on for more information, including what to expect from Maggie the rest of the season. We already have some plans brewing that I think is pretty cool. After many strenuous events at the Alexandria Safe Zone, she and Glenn finally get some good news, as Doctor Cloyd tells her she is pregnant much to the couple's surprise. Maggie has unfinished business with Gregory Maggie will be addressing this. Many of the workers are killed, but Negan's lieutenants lead an assault to keep hikers at bay. Daryl, having a change of heart, hands Dwight keys to a truck and tells him to go find Sherry, but threatens to kill him if he ever returns.
