I am an Amazon affiliate, so many links will direct you to Amazon. This book has been on my To Be Read pile for a long long time and I am glad to have read it! Includes instructions for a woven clay bowl project! I do have one small complaint - which actually has nothing to do with the author. There is no reason for this in a professional book. . I'm definitely sticking with this series - in fact, I'm starting the next one, by Melissa Glazer , today! With her contrary nature, however, such advice only serves to strengthen her resolve to solve the mystery - which she does, with a lot of help from her friends. David is very excited because a potter whom he admires very much is coming to town to lecture.

The main character, Carolyn Emerson, owns and operates a pottery shop - Fire at Will. The author should stop trying so hard to be as clever as other, better writers in creating a strong female character for this one just falls short. When Carolyn's best friend's ex-husband shows up after 2 decades, emotions are running high -- especially for his son and Carolyn's employee, David. Did you ever have one of those books where you just can't stand the main character, well in this series I just don't like the main character, she is bitchy, unfriendly, crabby, abrasive and totally unlikeable. When he's then found dead, things get even more interesting. Heck even the promised clay crafting techniques are nominal. She tries to hard to be flippant and misses by a mile.

Trying to stay in business with finicky customers, surprise visits from people from her past and finding yet another body, Carolyn has her hands fuller than before. Also I have to agree with the review below mine that Carolyn was meddling into everyone life and checking out their alibis but at least they told her off properly and created little drama, it was entertaining, so it didn't discourage me from enjoying this book. Carolyn Emerson and her zany gang of pottery fanatics have enchanted me enough to be anticipating the 3rd book in the series out in November, but if that book was in my lap today I would probably be cracking it open in no time. I really enjoyed this cozy by Melissa Glazer! The Cracked Pot Glazer Melissa can be very useful guide, and the cracked pot glazer melissa play an important role in your products. Now, with David and Hannah prime as the suspects, it's up to Carolyn and her friends in the amateur potters' group the Firing Squad to crack the case—before it explodes in their faces. All in all, this is an enjoyable cozy with an interesting group of main characters that I'm sure we'll learn more about as the series progresses. I hope it's fixed prior to further printing. She knows full well what it's like to be wrongfully accused and will take whatever measures necessary to see that mistakes are made right. Charles thinks he can just walk in like nothing is wrong. The author should stop trying so hard to be as clever as other, better writers in creating a strong female character for this one just falls short. Now that she doesn't suspect the sheriff of foul play, their relationship, while still strained, is one of grudging mutual respect and is much more believable. Now he's back to meet the son who he never met because he left before he was born. There is a lot of fun pottery facts sprinkled throughout the story and lots of character development especially in the young David who is maturing and going through growing pains. Summer approaching the small Vermont town brings in some new faces into the neighborhood and catches up nicely to the ones I missed and met before and as usual has plenty of fun pottery woven into the story. Now who would have the reason to kill him. The plot unfolds slowly and logically, and the characters appearing along the way are just that: perfect characters. I found myself back in charming Maple Ridge faster than expected, the second book in the Clay and Crime series was even more fun than the first.

I'll definitely be on the lookout for the next book in this series! Charles thinks he can just walk in like nothing is wrong. Then a few days later he is found murdered. This was a very fast read, can probably be swallowed up in one day. I didn't guess who did it but did have an idea of why. Our detective is Carolyn, a potter who owns Fire at Will, a shop that lets you paint your own clay and she has a little group of students mostly mature adults known as the Firing Squad who all naturally help her in her sleuthing.
