The Rangers gained another point and maintained their seven-point lead over Boston atop the Eastern Conference on Friday night when they fell to the Islanders 4-3 in an overtime shootout at the Nassau Coliseum. Marc Staal, Marian Gaborik, and Derek Stepan scored for the Rangers, while Gaborik added the team's lone shootout goal.
