Marc Staal has returned to form following his most recent concussion in December. After a strong defensive outing Wednesday night against the Islanders at Yankee Stadium, Staal continued to put up points Friday night against the Islanders back home at Madison Square Garden. No. 18 helped open the scoring in the opening minutes when his wrist shot from the point was deflected home by Brian Boyle, to give the Rangers the early 1-0 lead.
Staal continued his strong game midway through the third period when he joined the rush on a delayed penalty call against the Islanders and fed a beautiful cross-ice pass to Derick Brassard to bury the game-winner. Staal is booming with confidence and is comfortable in his own abilities, and that is clearly evident in his play this week.
