Offensive Explosion in Hartford
The Hartford Wolf Pack were victorious in two of three games this week, scoring 11 goals in the two wins over Springfield and Adirondack. Jesper Fast led the way with five goals in three games this week, including back-to-back two-goal performances in the week’s final two games. The 22-year-old former sixth-round pick in 2010 now has eight goals and five assists in 18 games this season with Hartford.
Forward J.T. Miller and Oscar Lindberg also had strong weeks for the ‘Pack. Miller posted five assists in three games while Lindberg notched two goals and three helpers. Miller, the Rangers’ 2011 first-round pick, has eight goals and 18 points in just 15 games with the Wolf Pack this season. The 22-year-old Lindberg has nine goals and 24 points through 41 games in his first season with Connecticut.
Danny Kristo scored his team-leading 14th goal of the campaign, while Kyle Beachnotched his first goal with Hartford. He also added an assist.
Duclair Picks Up First Star Honors
Rangers 2013 third-round pick Anthony Duclair was named the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s first star of the week following his eight-point week. The 18-year-old scored five goals, including a hat trick against Gatineau, and added three helpers in three games. Duclair leads the QMJHL in goals with 42 and is second overall in points with 75 through 47 games with Quebec.
This was the fifth time this season Duclair was named one of the League’s three stars of the week.
Buchnevich Notches a Pair of Helpers
Rangers 2013 third-rounder Pavel Buchnevich picked up two assists in three games this week for Severstal of the Kontinental Hockey League. Buchneviched registered both assists in his team’s 3-2 win over Donbass on Saturday. Through 35 games, the 18-year-old has six goals and 15 assists.
Rangers 2013 third-round pick Adam Tambellini continued his strong play in the Western Hockey League. The 19-year-old had a goal and two assists in two games for Calgary. In the eight games with Calgary since leaving the University of North Dakota, Tambellini has three goals and eight assists for 11 points.
Goaltender Mackenzie Skapski picked a win in his only appearance this week for Kootenay. The 19-year-old made 31 saves in Kootenay’s 6-2 win over Moose Jaw on Saturday. In 32 games this season, Skapski is 15-13-2-1 with a 2.91 goals against average, a .913 save percentage with one shutout.
