Mats Zuccarello has been one of the most consistent Rangers this season. After being kept off the score sheet in the Rangers’ first two games of the week, the Norwegian winger left a defining mark on the team’s biggest game thus far this season. On Sunday afternoon in front of more than 50,000 fans at Yankee Stadium, Zuccarello scored the game-tying and game-winning goals as part of a four-goal second period.
With the Rangers down, 3-2, less than three minutes into the second period, John Moore, on a 2-on-1 rush, passed the puck to Zuccarello, who had the puck bounce off his skate and past Devil's goaltender Martin Brodeur to knot the game at three. About 10 minutes later, Zuccarello added his second of the game on another odd-man rush, this time a 3-on-1. The goal would be the game-winner in a 7-3 rout of the Devils.
