JIM: Quite a few candidates for the Rangers Unsung Hero Saturday, but I am going with Justin Falk, who just concinues to play better and better the more he is in the lineup. Saturday it was a season-high 17:43 of physical hockey as Falk followed a strong showing in Boston 24 hours prior with his best game as a Ranger. Falk was credited with four hits, a blocked shot, and played well in his own end, while paired with Michael Del Zotto. It's always a good thing when players push others for playing time, it creates a good competition that all good teams have internally. Falk is doing that on the defense corps now as Del Zotto and now John Moore are no longer guaranteed regular spots. That will make all three of them better players.
MATT: I've really liked Falk's game, but I'm going with Michael Del Zotto, who was penciled back into the lineup Saturday and made the most of it. As you stated, Del Zotto and Falk were the third defensive pair, and I think they compliment each other well. Del Zotto picked up his second goal of the season on the power play in the second period, which made it 4-0 at the time but wound up being a pretty important goal, as the Canucks scored two goals after it. Del Zotto finished with a goal, two shots and one blocked shot in 17:43, 16:51 of which was at five-on-five.
