In two starts this week, Henrik Lundqvist stopped 55 of the 59 shots he faced, good for a .931 save percentage. Despite the sterling statistic, he unfortunately walked away without a win.
Nonetheless, the Swedish netminder’s play was sensational this week. After surrendering the goal to the Devils' Ryan Carter, Lundqvist kept the game 2-1 with a spectacular save on Jaromir Jagr’s breakaway attempt. Unfortunately, it was not enough as the Devils scored their third goal shortly after the Rangers tied the game.
Lundqvist was back in action Sunday evening against the Los Angeles Kings where he made 29 saves, several of which came from point-blank and rebound opportunities. The only blemish on his performance came on an unfortunate bounce off defenseman Anton Stralman in the second period.
Lundqvist’s efforts may not have led to Ranger wins this week, but he still remains at the top of the league in net and will always give the Blueshirts a chance to win each game.
