Sunday Postgame Chatter

“ You can say we did (play well), but at the same time we didn't score and that's what it comes down to. You have to score. ”
- Derek Stepan
“ It's an unlucky break on their goal, but they also had some pretty good chances and Hank made some big saves for us. I think (Henrik Lundqvist) gave us a chance to win, and we have to find a way to put one in. ”
- Dan Girardi
“ One big thing going into this game we said special teams would be a big part in this game, and it was, but not in our favor. ”
- Henrik Lundqvist

Less than 24 hours after a stirring 1-0 road victory up in Montreal, the Rangers were on the wrong side of the same score in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the LA Kings Sunday night at The Garden. An inability to put anything past Kings goalie Ben Scrivens, as well as an 0-for-5 performance on the power play---including a pair of failed short 5-on-3s---helped doom the Blueshirts on Sunday, and were major points of discussion in the postgame dressing room.

BlueshirtsUnited.com caught up with Derek Stepan---who played nearly 21 minutes and had three shots on goal, Dan Girardi---who tied for the team lead with four hits, and Henrik Lundqvist---who finished with 29 saves in a hard-luck loss, to discuss Sunday's 1-0 loss.
