Touted as one of the greatest goalies in Rangers history, John Vanbiesbrouck’s strongest opening night performance came against the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 6, 1989. The Jets fired 37 shots at The Beezer, scoring just one goal — good enough for a whooping .973 save percentage. The Rangers won the game, 4-1, behind goals from Kelly Kisio, Darren Turcotte and two from John Ogrodnick.

No Ranger goalie since has opened the season with a higher save percentage than Vanbiesbrouck's 1989 performance.
