The Oscar Lindberg, Jasper Fast and Danny Kristo line closed the Traverse City prospects tournament on a high Monday, as the three combined for three goals and six points in a come-from-behind 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild prospects on the tournament’s final day.
Fast led the way with two goals — both off assists from Lindberg — while Kristo had a goal and an assist of his own.
After a scoreless first period, the Wild jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals from Carter Sandlak and Miles Koules. Then, Fast notched two tallies in 14 seconds to knot the game at two with just over four minutes to play in the middle period. Kristo would score 45 seconds later to turn a two-goal deficit into a one-goal lead heading into the game’s final stanza.
Kristo’s goal came from 2013 third-round pick Anthony Duclair and defenseman Conor Allen. Duclair, 18, scored 20 goals and 50 points in 50 games last season for the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The third period was the Andrew Yogan show, as he put the Rangers up 4-2 at 7:54 — off a Kristo feed — and iced the game with an empty-net goal with 46 seconds to play to give the Rangers the 5-2 win.
Lindberg and Kristo led the team with seven points each, while Lindberg’s five goals and Kristo’s five assists were each team-highs for the tournament. Fast finished with two goals and an assist, while Yogan had three goals in the four games.
Jeff Malcolm picked up the victory in net, turning aside 15 of the 17 shots he faced.
