- Nathan Horton
- Ryan Murray
- Jack Skille
After their two big trades with the Rangers last year, and another with Philadelphia last summer which landed Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, the Blue Jackets have built a solid nucleus for the present and future, one that boosted even further with the signing of free agent forward Nathan Horton this summer.
Horton provides the scoring-challenged Blue Jackets another top-six winger who can score (six 20+ goal seasons on his resume). He also brings tremendous leadership to the locker room, a Stanley Cup ring with the Bruins in 2011, and an extremely physical presence on the ice, not to mention a proven track record in big games---19 points in 22 playoff games last spring as the latest example.
The 20 year-old Murray was the second overall selection in the 2012 NHL Draft. A skilled two-way defenseman, Murray seems primed to join the NHL this season where he would be a part of a very talented blueline corps---one that has an excellent mix of veterans and youth.
Skille is a depth forward who played in Florida last season. He is defensively responsible and has shown a willingness to scrap when needed, and will fill a bottom-six role in Columbus this season.
