Rick Nash is essentially a lock to be a member of Team Canada in February. Nash is an elite hockey player who brings a rare combination of speed, skill and size that will unquestionably be utilized in Canada’s top-six. The Brampton, Ont.-native has represented Canada seven times in his career, amassing 53 points in 52 games. He represented Canada in the 2006 and 2010 Olympics, bringing home a Gold Medal in 2010 as well as another at the 2007 World Championships.
Assuming his health is not an issue, Marc Staal could be one of Canada’s top-six defensemen. Similar to McDonagh, Staal brings an excellent overall game thanks to his skating, breakout passes, ability to throw a big hit and knack for shutting down a team’s top forwards. That lethal combination will make him hard to pass up. Staal won back-to-back gold medals for Team Canada at the 2006 and 2007 World Juniors.
