The Rangers held an optional morning skate Wednesday at the Verizon Center, with head coach John Tortorella confirming afterwards that Martin Biron will start in goal this evening against the Capitals and that defenseman Jeff Woywitka will return to the lineup from his foot injury. With Woywitka returning from his four-game absence, rookie Tim Erixon will be scratched from the lineup. "If we find that we are healthy (on the blueline) after tonight's game, (Erixon) will go down (to the Connecticut Whale) and play," Tortorella explained. "Since we are going to Florida after this game, going a distance, and because not everyone is healthy on our back end, even though they can play, I don't want to keep yanking him all over the place. But if we find we are healthy getting on the plane to Florida, (Erixon) will go back down to the minor league team." Rookie defenseman Stu Bickel will be able to play this evening despite a nasty shiner around his right eye, which includes stitches below the eye, the result of his fight Monday night with the Islanders Michael Haley. Bickel will wear a visor tonight, but says the eye is not a problem for him. "It looks much worse than it feels actually," Bickel laughed after the morning skate. Of his play, which includes four points, + 4 rating , and 16 penalty minutes in his first four NHL games, Bickel said, "I think the past few years I have come a long way, and I think the biggest thing for me is that there never was a point in my career where I feel like i have been complacent or that I plateaued. It's been great here, being a part of this winning, with a great group of guys." Share your thoughts on the news from Wednesday's morning skate below.
