While not a current — or former — Blueshirt, Rangers analyst Joe Micheletti and Alain Vigneault spent time together as players with the St. Louis Blues during the 1981-82 season.

By that time, Micheletti — six years Vigneault’s senior — had spent three seasons in the World Hockey Association before making his way to the NHL and St. Louis in the 1979-80 season. In 1981-82, Micheletti posted three goals and 14 points before he was traded in December to the Colorado Rockies.

Vigneault, meanwhile, dressed in 14 games that season, posting a goal and three points. He made a splash in his first game by fighting Grant Mulvey at 4:17 of the first period.

Vigneault would play 28 more games — his final 28 in the NHL — with the Blues in 1982-83, posting one goal and three assists.
