Arron Asham

Another current Blueshirt with ties to Alain Vigneault is forward Arron Asham, who played for Vigneault with the Montreal Canadiens from the 1998-99 season through Vigneault’s dismissal prior to the 2000-01 season.

In his rookie season of 1998-99, Asham skated in seven games and posted no points. The Canadiens, meanwhile, finished 32-39-11-0 and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The following season, Asham appeared in 33 games and posted four goals and six assists, as Montreal went 35-34-9-4, and missed the playoffs again. Despite the results, Vigneault finished second behind Joel Quenneville in the Jack Adams Award Voting.

Vigneault was relieved of his coaching duties during the 2000-01 season, and would not coach again before returning to the QMJHL as head coach of the Prince Edward Island Rocket for the 2003-04 season.

Asham would spend two more seasons in Montreal.
