No. 3: Ryan McDonagh

In playing all but one game this season, Ryan McDonagh proved that he was a remarkably reliable defenseman for the Rangers this season. In his second "full" season on Broadway, McDonagh had arguably the best campaign of his young career, posting four goals, 15 assists for 19 points in 47 games, just 13 points fewer than his total a season ago despite playing 35 fewer games.

Throughout the regular season and playoffs, it was clear that opposing teams tried to match lines to get their most gifted offensive players away from McDonagh, as well as his partner, Dan Girardi, proving that teams around the league respect what he brings on the defensive-side of the game.

His emergence at such a young age — he's not yet 24 years old — on the Rangers blueline has caught the attention of many throughout the hockey world, leaving some to believe he could be up for consideration to be part of the 2014 U.S. Olympic team.
