After an extremely solid first two years in the National Hockey League, Derek Stepan emerged as a true No. 1 center in 2013, averaging just under a point per game. Stepan led the Rangers with 44 points and 26 assists, and was second in goals scored with 18. He also established a new career-high by finishing with a +25 plus/minus rating, and tied for the NHL lead with four shorthanded points while playing in all 48 games of this truncated season.

During the playoffs, Stepan led the Rangers with four goals and finished tied for fourth on the team with five points.
