No. 5: Assist on Nash Winner vs. Flyers

Rick Nash receives---and deserves---the glory for his game-winning goal 2:50 into the third period of the March 5th game at The Garden against the Flyers, but Dan Girardi picks up the lone assist on the goal with a typically smart and effective play that, in a small way,  typifies Girardi. Positioned in the low slot, Girardi quickly collects the rebound after a Henrik Lundqvist save and alertly banks a soft and accurate pass off the right wing wall, seting Nash on his way to a 2-on-1 rush up ice. Nash does the rest, beating Ilya Bryzgalov with a beautiful shot off the rush, but Girardi plays a big, and understated, role on this game-winner.
