Stepan concluded arguably his most successful season in the NHL Saturday with a goal and an assist in 20:43 of ice time. He finished April with eight goals and 11 assists in 14 games, and tallied 35 points over the final 30 games of the season.
His first period goal held up to be the game-winner, which was his sixth of the season. He had four all of last season.
The 22-year-old led the Rangers in points with 44 and assists with 26, to go along with a plus-25 rating, which was fifth best in the NHL. 18 of his 44 points came against Atlantic Division foes. Last season, Stepan finished with 17 goals and 51 points and a plus-14 rating over an 82-game campaign.
Girardi Shot Blocking King
Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi’s 125 blocked shots was the most by any player in the NHL this season. He finished Saturday’s game with four hits in 22:39 of ice time. Last season Girardi ranked fifth in blocked shots with 185 in 82 games.
Zucc Finishes Strong
Mats Zuccarello picked up an assist on Nash’s second goal in the third period, and finished with a plus-2 rating in 14:58 of ice time. He had six points in his final seven games of the season, and eight in 15 games overall, as well as a plus-10. Last season, he finished with three points in 10 games as a Blueshirt.
For his career, Zuccarello has 11 goals and 34 points in 67 games.
Defenseman John Moore tallied an assist Saturday afternoon to give him six points in 13 games as a Ranger. He was credited with a game-high four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in 16:28 of ice time.
In 17 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets this season, Moore had one assist and posted a minus-5 rating in 17 games.
