After missing the playoffs every season from 1998 through 2004, the Rangers are headed to their third consecutive postseason, and seventh in the last eight seasons. They join the Pittsburgh Penguins, San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings as the only four teams to make the playoffs in seven of the last eight seasons since the 2005-06 lockout.

The Rangers have made the playoffs in 56 of their 87 seasons.

April Success

The Rangers improved to 9-3-1 in the month of April.  Their nine wins this month was the most in any month this season, breaking March’s total of seven.

Overtime Perfection

The Rangers improved to a perfect 4-0 in games decided in overtime this season. Callahan and Girardi each have a tally in the extra period, while Marian Gaborik had two. The Blueshirts went 8-2 last season in overtime, and 3-2 the season prior.

Late Game Heroics

Last night's late third period goal to tie the game with just under three minutes remaining was the second time this season the Rangers have scored to tie a game within the final six minutes of a game to either win or force overtime and win. Hagelin scored with 5:13 remaining on Feb. 2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the team's 3-2 win.

Storm Chasers

The Rangers win Thursday night was the team’s nine of their last 10 matchups with the Carolina Hurricanes, having out-scored them, 34-21, over that span. The Blueshirts have also won their last five games — and seven of eight — on the road against the Hurricanes.

Southern Hospitality

The Rangers have gone 25-7-3 in their last 35 games against the Southeast Division, including 10-4-1 this season. New York has out-scored their opponents 114-72 during that stretch.

Shooting Gallery

The Rangers out-shot Carolina, 38-21, including 28-6 after the first period. It was the 26th time this season the Rangers out-shot their opponent, and second straight game they posted 38 shots on goal.
