Rangers captain Ryan Callahan scored the game winner at 2:55 of overtime to send the Rangers to the playoffs. He added an assist, led all skaters with six shots, was credited with four hits and two blocked shots in a season-high 26:17 of ice time. It was his highest ice time total since he posted 27:20 on March 28, 2012 against the Winnipeg Jets.

The two points extended his point streak to six games, with four goals and five assists. He has six goals and eight assists in his last 13 games.

The goal was Callahan's first overtime winner this season, and fourth of his career.

Stepan Extends Streak

Center Derek Stepan recorded the game’s first goal and added an assist on Callahan’s overtime winner in 23:49 of ice time.

Stepan has seven goals and 10 assists in 13 games this month, and 33 points in his last 29 games. He leads the team with 42 points this season.

Richards Tallies Another Goal

Brad Richards continued his outstanding April with his game-tying goal with 2:57 remaining in the third period. He finished with four shots, two blocked shots in 22:21 of ice time. The goal extended his point streak to five games during which he’s scored five goals and four assists. Richards needs one point Saturday to tie his highest point streak as a Ranger, which came last season.

MDZ Has Pair of Assists

Defenseman Michael Del Zotto finished with two assists and logged 21:21 of ice time against the Carolina Hurricanes. It was Del Zotto’s second multi-assist game of the season and fourth multi-point game. He has five assists in his last seven games.
