Rangers-Steve Eminger: Just the other day John Tortorella said that Eminger had secured the fifth defensemen's spot in the lineup with his strong play of late, and then on Saturday Eminger played a season-high 21:32 on the second defense unit with Michael Del Zotto. Eminger who has played a robust physical game, adding that important dimension to the backline, has also been blocking shots at an impressive rate---including a team-high four against the Penguins on Saturday. He has now played ten consecutive games since returning to the lineup after a conditioning stint with the Connecticut Whale on February 26th.
Hurricanes-Alexander Semin: A 40-goal scorer with Washington just three seasons ago, and with 205 goals in 496 career games, Semin has added a major jolt to the Hurricanes offense this year after signing as a free agent his past summer. Often considered aloof and disinterested, Semin has been focused and on top of his game in Carolina, leading the team with 21 assists and ranking second with 29 points and a +19 plus/minus rating. Semin already has five three-point games this season, including four in his last 11 games. He has totaled 18 points in his last 11 contests, and enters play Monday riding a season-high-tying four-game point scoring streak.
