Rangers: With a victory tonight the Rangers would finish off a sweep of the season series with Tampa Bay. The last time the Rangers swept a season series from the Lightning was during the 2008-09 season when the Blueshirts won all four games. Interestingly that season series was completed before the season was even a full two months old. The Rangers opened the season in Europe (see photo), winning back to back 2-1 contests against the Lightning, before snagging a 5-2 home win on November 6th and a 3-2 victory in Tampa on November 26th. The Lightning returned the favor in 2010-11 sweeping all four games from the Blueshirts.

Lightning: Tampa Bay's phenomenal power play to start the season has cooled down considerably. After netting 13 power play goals in the first eight games of the 2013 season, the Lightning have scored only four in the last 11 matches. After going 0-6 last time out against Buffalo, the Lightning enter play just one for their last 14 on the man advantage over the last four games, falling to seventh in the NHL now at a 22.1 success rate overall.
