Rangers Recall Christian Thomas

Prior to their morning skate Saturday at the Bell Centre the Rangers announced that rookie forward Christian Thomas has been recalled from the Connecticut Whale. It is the first call-up to the NHL for the 21 year-old Thomas.

In his first pro season Thomas has appeared in 52 games with the Whale. he has scored 13 goals, assisted on 11 others, and totaled 24 points, while posting a +3 plus/minus rating. Three of his goals have been scored on the power play where Thomas has regularly played the point.

The Rangers second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft Thomas scored 54 goals and totaled 99 points in 66 games with Oshawa in 2010-11. The year before he scored 41 goals and the season after he tallied 34 with Oshawa.

Thomas is the son of former NHLer Steve Thomas---who now works in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. Steve Thomas playe din 1235 NHL games and scored421 goals and 933 points.

The younger Thomas will join the Rangers in time for their morning skate in Montreal and game this evening against the Canadiens.
