Rangers: How close is the all-time series between the Rangers and Capitals? Well after splitting their four regular-season games a year ago, the Rangers have posted an all-time record of 85-86-18-5 against the Caps, pretty much a split down the middle. At Madison Square Garden the Rangers hold a 47-38-9-2 edge over the Caps, who entered the NHL in 1974-75. The tight history between the two clubs extends into the post-season where the Rangers and Caps have met seven different times, with Washington having won four of those seven series. in 41 all-time playoff games the Rangers are 19-22 against the Caps. Tonight marks the first of three meetings between the clubs this season.

Capitals: Washington has scored at least one power play goal in six consecutive games, going 8-15 in that stretch. In fact the Caps have been held without a power play goal just three out of 14 games so far this season. The Capitals ranks fifth in the NHL, converting at 27.1 percent on the power play, and have scored 13 times with the man advantage this season.
