Rangers: Since March 24, 2007 the Rangers and Bruins have met 23 times, with 18 of those games being decided by one-goal. The Rangers are 11-5-2 in those one-goal games against Boston, including their 4-3 overtime victory over the Bruins at MSG on January 23rd. That contest was the seventh of the 18 one-goal games to be decided either in overtime or the shootout. Of the remaining five games played between these two Original Six franchises since March of 2007, four have been decided by two goals, and one was decided by three---the Rangers 3-0 victory up in Boston on February 14 of 2012.

Bruins: Boston's 8-1-1 start is the best ten-game start in franchise history. The only losses suffered so far by the Bruins are a 4-3 overtime defeat at Madison Square Garden to the Rangers on January 23 when Marian Gaborik netted the OT winner and a 7-4 home-ice loss to the Buffalo Sabres on January 31. Interestingly in both of their defeats this season the Bruins have surrendered a Hat Trick to an opposing player. Gaborik scored three goals vs. Boston in that late January game, and Thomas Vanek had three goals and five points in the Sabres victory.
