Two days after making his NHL debut Tuesday night at the Prudential Center, JT Miller makes his Madison Square Garden debut this evening when the Rangers host the Islanders. And this is a moment the Rangers 2011 top pick has been dreaming about.
"I can't wait," Miller siad Thursday morning. "I have never even been down past the seats or in the locker room at The Garden. "I am really looking forward to it. I am excited."
That his first-ever game at MSG is against the rival Islanders adds a nice extra touch to this game, as well for Miller.
"There's going to be a lot of energy in the crowd from what I hear, so I am going to try and get myself into the game early---make a big hit, do something good and smart with the puck---something that will also get the crowd into it," explained Miller, who played nearly 15 minutes of solid hockey Tuesday against the Devils.
As it was Tuesday night, Miller believes the key for him this evening will be to not let his emotions range too high or too low so that he does not end up running around out on the ice.
"Being even-keeled is a big part of this for me," Miller explained. "I can't get too excited, running around with no purpose, and I can't be too laid back either. i have to stick with my game and do it within the system."
