The Rangers held an optional practice Friday morning before the team headed to the airport and a flight to Tampa for Saturday's contest against the Lightning. Fourteen players, including both goaltenders took part in the practice, with Henrik Lundqvist taying on the ice longer to get more work in---perhaps signalling a start for Marty Biron in Tampa.
Rookie Chris Kreider skated for a third consecutive day, but reported afterwards that he is unsure his ankle is ready for a return to game action on Saturday.
The players who spoke after practice were all resolute that the Rangers need to be much more consistent with their effort and play, with Brian Boyle emphatically saying that a sense of urgency needs to arrive in the Blueshirts locker room, and needs to "happen now".
