“ I'm excited to try and earn my spot on this team. I'm going to keep my head down and work hard like always. ”

“ I'm always excited to play hockey. Down there (In Hartford) I was excited to get the opportunity to play professional hockey, and now I am going to try and make this team. ”

“ The biggest lessons I have learned are to just control what I can control, winning puck battles, getting pucks out of the zone, finishing checks, and letting everything else take care of itself. ”
- Chris Kreider

Chris Kreider has waited four months for his opportunity to play with the varsity in New York, and about 20 minutes into that first opportunity on Wednesday at the MSG Training Center, the Rangers top pick in the 2009 NHL Draft took a puck in the mouth and had to briefly skate off of the ice.

Fortunately, it was no harm, no foul, and Kreider returned with a swollen and stitched lip, none the worse for wear.

"And that was my favorite drill, too, we were doing!", joked Kreider after the workout.

Kreider also answered a series of questions about the upcoming Rangers training camp and his chances of being on the team after scoring five goals and totaling 12 points in 33 games this season with the Connecticut Whale in the AHL.
