Chris Kreider has waited four months for his opportunity to play with the varsity in New York, and about 20 minutes into that first opportunity on Wednesday at the MSG Training Center, the Rangers top pick in the 2009 NHL Draft took a puck in the mouth and had to briefly skate off of the ice.
Fortunately, it was no harm, no foul, and Kreider returned with a swollen and stitched lip, none the worse for wear.
"And that was my favorite drill, too, we were doing!", joked Kreider after the workout.
Kreider also answered a series of questions about the upcoming Rangers training camp and his chances of being on the team after scoring five goals and totaling 12 points in 33 games this season with the Connecticut Whale in the AHL.
