"I Have A Lot More To Prove"

“ I made it clear to my agent that New York was a positive experience for me, and it was definitely somewhere where if everything was right and made sense to go back, then I would make the effort to do that. And as a competitor everyone wants to be part of a winning team, and I feel we have that here. ”

“ I think it is important to reflect and to give yourself credit for the the things you accomplished, but at the same time I am not really huge on the idea of getting all wrapped up in things you already accomplished. I have a lot more to prove, and I feel that I will keep on improving. ”

“ If you take too much time to step back and reflect on your accomplishments that's when I think you start to plateau and stop to progress. So I like to keep pushing forward and keep working hard. ”

“ I feel like I am moving in the right direction as an individual, but even more importantly it's so positive to be part of a winning team and a winning tradition. So I am definitely excited to continue that with the Rangers. ”

Despite agreeing to a new contract with the Rangers, and being fresh off a long-awaited rookie season at the NHL level, defenseman Stu Bickel is making sure there isn't too much patting himself on the back for a job well done. Instead the popular d-man is back home in Minnesota training hard already for next season and focusing squarely on what lies ahead and not what he has already accomplished.

In between skating, working out, and fishing back home, Bickel squeezed in a conversation with Jim Cerny from BlueshirtsUnited.com on Wednesday.
