“ Obviously I tried not to think about it, and I tried to play the best that I could according to the situation. I don't want to make excuses, but (the injury) was there...my shoulder was weak...and it affected me. ”
- Marian Gaborik
“ My shot wasn't there, but I don't want to make excuses. I know I could've played better. It was just weak, no power. Even when your adrenaline kicks in you can't push (the injury) aside. ”
- Marian Gaborik
“ There was no point (in getting surgery during the playoffs). I tried to put it aside and focus on playing because you don't get these situations where you're playing for The Cup (often). I just wanted to go out there and go for it. ”
- Marian Gaborik
“ I am going to try and be back before (6 months). I am frustrated. I knew I wasn't OK, but I was hoping for better answers from the doctors. It is what it is, now I just have to focus on getting back healthy. ”
- Marian Gaborik
Marian Gaborik chatted with reporters on a conference call late Friday afternoon to discuss the news that he will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder next week. Gaborik stated that he suffered the injury in either Game 3 or Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on a play behind the Ottawa Senators net, and was compromised the remainder of the playoffs.
However Gaborik noted that "a lot of guys were banged up" and he never considered coming out of the Rangers' lineup despite a shoulder he described as "weak", and the fact that "my shot wasn't there".
