My Opinion: Dubinsky, Kreider, 1st Rd Pick, Erixon for Nash. I've gone over the future cap and there is absolutely NO issues whatsoever with future signings. We can afford to move Erixon because of the amount of top D we will have for the next 5-7 years. We can always draft another 1 or 3 in the next 5 years. Keep McIlrath, add Erixon to the deal. Kreider, if he turns out to be great, the good for Columbus. Problem is, you never can truly know when it comes to prospects. Besides, it could take him 2-3 years to come out anyway. These 3 years are the Rangers window for the Cup. After that, you will want to let Gaborik walk at 33 going on 34. That money will be used to sign our younger studs hitting the 27-29 year ages. Then you have other prospects and future draft picks to bring in. Point is, get Nash now and make a run for the next 3 years.

only thing is with new cba there is talk of cap reduction, if the cap is reduced by 10% that one added huge salary can really handcuff a team. i like dubinsky, but understand u need to give up some quality to get quality. kreider is the one piece i dont let go. the rest are tradeable, but the cap number still scares me

they wont drop the cap it will go up no team will allow a cap drop that will never happen the cap will most def go up and felix from what i have been hearing krieder isnt going anywhere rangers have very very high hopes for him from the names that have been thrown around on tsn is dubi delzotto thomas bourque and a draft pick or two i believe they also said erixon isnt on the table either for the rangers are unwilling to move krieder and erixon so i really dont think they will move both or either of those prospects erixon is having a fantastic season on the whale alot of buzz that he will be on the rangers next season

Seems like they're taking the foot off the gas a little lately. Not hitting everything and everyone at every oppurtunity. Every teams goes through some ups and downs in a season, and if this is one of the down times its still pretty good. That's the sign of a good team though. Extend those upswings and still gain points when not playing your best.

Yeah, I think Saturday you will see a different team. The Columbus game knocked us off rhythm. Both teams in that game played soft like it was an exhibition. Then hop to this game, Pitt wasnt that physical either, so we didn't step up to the plate and start hitting them hard. That in turn led to an uphill battle trying to chase them down, and the pens having no fear because they werent getting hit. Saturday vs. the Isles, we should see a very physical matchup, and those are the games the Rangers excel at. GO BLUESHIRTS! Let's keep this team together, no trades! I hope Saure comes back... but other than that I'm not too concerned, I can't wait to see their energy come playoffs, I hope they have enough in the tank to pick up to that caliber play.

McDonagh hit the post...if that puck goes in it's a 1-1 game and possibly a different outcome. You guys are basically giving up on your team just because of a 2-0 loss. It happens...get over it and move on like the real Rangers are doing.

The problem is we dont have a legit scoring threat outside of gaborik yes cally can score will hit 30-35 goals maybe this season but we need a legit 30+ goal scoring winger with size. Nash fits the bill for what this rangers organization is looking for thats why ryan made sense two hes a big strong top 6 goal scoring winger. Its not because Nash is a big name goal scoring game changer its because hes big hes strong he gritty he fits the bill for the team. Contract aside hes what i think is the last missing piece to this team.

I doubt being on a better team will give him more production. Alot of times a player scores more for a worse team due to increased ice time and lack of defensive discipline (eg Parenteau). Playing a defense first system and sharing ice time with other quality players could reduce his production.

You've got to be kidding me. You honestly don't think someone of Nash's caliber will produce more when you give him an 80pt Natural Center like Richards???? Richards and Cally work nice together, but Richards also NEEDS a Nash on his line, and Nash NEEDS a Richards. One is a world class passer and one is world class scorer.

You guys MAY be right his production MAY go up, but it is true that certain players do have more GOAL production on worse teams due to the reasons I stated- more ice time, taking more shots, and less defensive responsiblity. Nash is a high quality player that I think could fit on this team, but the price has to be right. Putting him with Richards does not mean instant success, remember how Richards was supposed to play with Gaborik. Nash could improve any team in this league, including the Rangers, but again for the right price.

RHR your right putting him with richards doesnt mean he will play well together but gaborik and richards didnt work because they see the game different nash is more like cally in a way becuase they play similar. The price should be good for nash hes world class player listen idk why people dont want gaborik to have more help scoring goals nash is 28 years old in the prime of his life he wants to be on a cup contender and if he comes to the rangers it only means more goals. And once hes set in how we play here he will be a even better hockey player. Hes worth his contract if he comes and produces which im sure that he will score alot of goals and in the playoffs he will be good because he scores clutch goals

Z Sage, I would love to have more scoring. Nash may fit the bill, but I hear they are asking for Dubi, Kreider, a 1st rounder and Mcdonagh or Del Zotto. That its too high a price. Add in the cap hit til 2017 and thats getting crazy. He's also a minus player for his career which means his production may go down if he comes to a d-first typr system. I'm not saying he's not a top flight player. I'm just not sure if he's worth what they want. I've seen this team go after the high paid players in the past, too often with underwhelming results. I guess with seeing the team playing so well under the current course I'm a little leary about changing things too drastically.

RHR you bring up valid points i just feel with his style of play he would fit in well here. Kreider is off limits sather said. but you bring up a strong argument. i feel that nash would do nothing but give the rangers another legit scoring threat. He may bring some movement to our pp he may bring some big time goals he likes to throw the body hes big hes strong hes 27 years old. i feel the pros out weight the cons on this hes a game changing playing entering the prime years of his career its a win win for the rangers if we land them could create space for gaborik because they will have to pay attention to nash could open ice more for richards theres alot of big things this guy can do for this club the rangers can be a legit elite contender for the next few seasons with nash addition.

we need to come ready to play from the start, the PP has got to click, dubi should be moved up... put him back with cali and boyle or richie at center. i wouldn't mind us making a move for a solid d-man with a blast from the point... something we are missing very much. we work the point very well, but no one has a serious one timer or blast from the point. put rupper or boyler in front or cali for a deflection and BINGO the goals will pour in. but dubi isn't gonna score on the line he is on, move him back with cali.

This is 3 games in a row in which we weren't good, the game against Columbus wasn't a great effort, even though we outshot them. All season I said this team will tire with 2nd year players n ot used to a long season with lots of minutes. We don't give up many goals, but it's because of the forwards helping out down low, it's not that our dmen are great.Yes, we need scoring, but we need a stud dman like Weber to be a quarterback on power plays while also playing defense without the need for help. We also need scoring from up front, that being said don't make a bad trade to get these pieces. This season will get us the experience needed to become a REAL cup contender next year, along with Kreider getting on team. We will need to try and get Suter or weber in offseason, and will need to lose a player or 2 to do so. Don't break up team now, accept whatever we do this year, and make the changes in offseason to make us a perennial contender for years to come.

I think you nailed it, Jeff. I don't think now is the best time to break up this team; it is a young, fairly inexperienced team playing good hockey this season. Another sniper would help, as would a good PP quarterback on D, but the costs now would wipe out all the progress the team has made. I would like to see what they can do as a team as they stand now, and make any necessary trades in the summer. I don't know if the cup is a realistic goal this year, but conference and divisional champs are well within reason and a great goal for this team to shoot for... Whatever happens this is the best Rangers team in years, and could be for years to come. LETS GO RANGERS!

jeff the rangers are a REAL cup contender this year. Kreider isnt the savior either dude he may not even make the team out of camp. weber isnt the answer to our pp either. we dont need weber or suter. With the team we have now we are legit contenders we have been in first all season we lose a couple games everyone panics. Worrying about our back end when its scoring we need to address we need a legit top six forward who can consistently score !

its really a combination of everything, another scorer would be a great, a stud defenseman would be nice, the books out on kreider. they can contend this year, no doubt,......additons may help but at what expense to the core of the team and what type of restrictions would they have in the future due to the cap.

Finally I agree with you Zucc. We need to make a move to solidify the Offense now. Clearly after almost 60 games, the team is ranked in the middle of the league in offense and at the top in D and G. You have to make a move now to increase the offense. Kreider may be highly touted, but so was Grachev, Lundmark, Korpikoski, Jessiman, etc.... You never know what happens to a prospect coming into the league. We all know exactly what we'll get out of Nash, and he'll be with us for 6 years. I've been saying it since January before he was even made available. We need to make a move for him as long as Dubinsky is the only ACTIVE player we need to deal.

yea felix but grachev was a 3rd round pick !!! krieder is a first round pick and is being looked at completely different then grachev was and i think it was a mistake to move grachev i would of given him another year. and korpikosky however his name is spelt lol i wouldnt of traded either nor prucha would of kept those guys. But im tired of reading that krieder is going to be the best player on the team right out of collage having never played at the nhl level i say he doesnt make the team right out of camp big big big jump in speed and the way the game is thought at the nhl level its a hard jump and if hes in the whale for a few months its not so bad we have alot of talent on the rangers and whale. but our d and goaltending is solid we need i repeat need another goal scoring winger

I still don't think you can blame the Dmen for 2-0 losses, 3-2 games...they are doing their part. The problem is, the forwards are not burying the chances, and also, the forwards aren't controlling the puck enough. When you keep testing your D, shift after shift, the chances of a breakdown to occur gets greater. Add an offensive weapon like Nash and many things change. The opponent will tend to back up more to collapse against stronger offense. Nash will also create more overall puck possession time which means less plays the D need to make. Nash also ultimately will put the puck in more which means less stress on Henrik, and that will allow the team to play a little more relaxed rather than tightly gripping their sticks because they are pressing to score. Nash can change the dynamics of every game.

how can you when your playing the pens you know they will get a couple they have to much talent not to. D plays there hearts out but the offense couldnt score Nash on the team we have more then one scoring threat it forces the teams to adjust the way they play us even more. We land nash we go from a very hard team to play against to nobody is going to want to play us type team it puts us much much closer to the cup this year and hes 28 so it makes us contenders long term also

Wow what a stinker. What happened to playing tough along the wall. It appears that's gone out the window over the last 4 or 5 games. Yeah that Staal penalty call was bogus, and the refs have been ramping up the penalty calls with greater frequency throughout the entire league over the past month, but no goals equals loss no matter how you spell it out. This game will probably trigger the Nash trade, and rightly so. We may not want Nash, but we sure do need him. And please, take Richards off the point on the PP. Del Zotto, Staal, McDonagh, Girardi and Stralman can handle the job. Put Richie in the high slot on PP! This one stings. I despise losing to Pittsburgh!

The same team will make the same runs for the next few seasons if we trade Dubinsky and 2 prospects. At this point, I would even go for Dubinsky, Kreider and a 1st rounder. Kreider is a top prospect, we all know that. But a prospect is still only a prospect. We have no idea how he will handle NHL life, 82 full NHL seasons, if his health will keep up, etc... There are so many variables. Do I need to remind who Brendl, Lundmark, Grachev, Jessiman, Blackburn, Korpikoski, etc. etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on with Top Prospects that fail for one reason or another. Nash is proven. We know exactly how many goals he can score at the minimum. He is signed for 6 years. I think we need to make the move, if not to give the offense a jump start. I mean, we must have had 10-15 GREAT scoring chances and setups in the Columbus game, but NO ONE could finish. Thats what we need to address right now. It just so happens that he isn't a rental and will be with our team for another 6 years.
