Rangers head coach John Tortorella stated after practice on Friday that the team's medical staff has cleared injured defenseman Steve Eminger to return to game action.
"I have a 'Yes' from him," Tortorella said, referring to head medical trainer Jim Ramsay's thumbs-up for Eminger's return.
However the head coach added, "I'm not sure" as to whether or not Eminger will indeed play when the Rangers return to action Sunday afternoon against the Flyers at Madison Square Garden.
Eminger has missed 19 straight games since separating his shoulder in a game against the Phoenix Coyotes on December 17th. Prior to sustaining the injury on a hit from Phoenix's Martin Hanzal, Eminger had pieced together a very soilid start to his season, playing extremely well in his own zone and recording two goals and two assists over 30 games.
"Today I felt the best that I have yet," explained Eminger after practice. "I really tried to push it and battle, and I felt really really good. We'll see what they decide, but, yes, I feel that I am ready to go."
