Rangers Successful Small Season

The Rangers entered this week coming off a dramatic last-second win in Phoenix Saturday night and facing a grueling three-games-in-four-nights stretch against, arguably, their three most fierce rivals. And head coach John Tortorella challenged his team finish this capsule of games in as strong a fashio as possible. If Torts was the teacher, the Rangers were the students, and this stretch was a test, let's just say the boys nailed this week with straight A's as Friday night the Rangers capped off their successful week by defeating the Flyers 4-2 at The Garden, their third win secured in this four-night stretch. "We took these four days and we kind of played a small little season playing three divisional games," explained team captain Ryan Callahan, who scored his 13th goal Friday night. "And I think this is as close to our type of hockey that we have played for a stretch of games, to be honest with you. We played hard-nosed, won them different ways, and just shows that if we stick to our system we are going to win a lot of games." As for moving into a first-place tie in the Atlantic Division with the Flyers, albeit only 33 games into the season, Callahan said, "There is something to be said for that. Here 30-something games into it, and at the Christmas break, to be right there at the top just gives us confidence moving forward. With that being said, there's a lot of hockey left to be played, and we haven't seen our best yet, and we're going to have be better as we move along."
