A return to the Garden was just what the Rangers needed, as they scored four goals to beat the Washington Capitals, 4-3, in Game 3. They now trail the series 2-1.
Brian Boyle opened the scoring for the Rangers in the first period when his low wrist shot beat Braden Holtby to tie the score, 1-1. The Blueshirts jumped ahead in the second period on a power play goal by Derick Brassard that made it 2-1. With the score tied again, Arron Asham buried a Derick Brassard pass in the slot to make it 3-2. After the Capitals scored again, Derek Stepan scored the game-winning goal with just under seven minutes to play.
