Nearly the entire Rangers' team took part in Tuesday's optional morning skate at the Prudential Center in Newark, but perhaps most importantly hobbled defenseman Jeff Woywitka was among those skating. Woywitka was unable to practice Monday after suffering a bad bone bruise on his foot during Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Coyotes, but he said he felt "way better" Tuesday after having "no strength" in the foot on Monday. "I'm going to ice it this afternoon, then we'll talk about it later and decide if I can play and so what's best for the game," explained Woywitka. "I haven't made a decision yet. But today it felt a lot stronger, and I had a lot more movement in it, so we'll see later on." If Woywitka is unable to play, rookie Tim Erixon would take his spot in the lineup. It would also mean that the Rangers would be down four of their regular defensemen, with Marc Staal, Michael Sauer, and Steve Eminger all on the Injured Reserve list already. Rookie defenseman Stu Bickel will make his NHL debut tonight in the place of Eminger, and Artem Anisimov---who missed Saturday's game due to an illness---will be back in the lineup, meaning that both Erik Christensen and Sean Avery will be scratched. Henrik Lundqvist starts in goal for the Blueshirts, bringing a lifetime 22-9-5 record and microscopic 1.85 goals against average against the Devils into the contest.
