Rangers-Coyotes Preview

For the second time in more than a week the Rangers (17-8-4, 38 pts) will look to snap a mini two-game losing skid tonight when they skate against the Phoenix Coyotes (16-12-3, 35 pts) at Jobing.com Arena. Last week the Rangers followed losses to Toronto and Tampa Bay (in the shootout) with resounding victories over Buffalo and Florida. Tonight, having scored only one goal in their last two games combined, the Rangers will try and get back on track against a Coyotes team that has lost three of its last four---and five of its last eight games---entering play this evening. A quick start might be imperative for the Rangers tonight as the Coyotes are 14-1-3 this season when scoring the game's first goal and just 2-11-0 when the opposition scores first. When the Coyotes lead after one period of play their record is 10-1-1; but they are 0-7-0 when trailing after 20 minutes. The Rangers, who may get Mike Rupp back in the lineup tonight after a 22-game injury-related absence, will see a host of former Blueshirts on the 'Yotes roster including Michal Rozsival, Lauri Korpikoski, Derek Morris, and Jason LaBarbera. In addition, Phoenix's general manager is popular Rangers alum Don Maloney. Share your predictions on Saturday's game below.
