Following Tuesday's morning skate at The Garden, Rangers head coach John Tortorella updated the status of several of the team's injured players. Tortorella stated that forward Mike Rupp, who has been recovering from knee surgery, has been cleared for contact and could very well be back in the lineup later this week, possibly in St. Louis on Thursday or in Phoenix on Saturday. The news wasn't quite as positive about defenseman Michael Sauer. Tortorella said that Sauer has not been around the team since suffering a concussion against the Maple Leafs last week, and will not be traveling on the road trip later this week. In addition, defenseman Marc Staal skated with his teammates at the morning skate for the first time since training camp, though there is no update on his condition or timetable on his return to action. And forward Wojtek Wolski also skated with the team this morning, wearing a non-contact jersey, as he works his way back from surgery to repair a sports hernia.
