Del Zotto's Top 5

From June 4-20, is counting down some of the most memorable moments for several Rangers players in 2011-12. We continue today with a look back at defenseman Michael Del Zotto's season. At only 21 years old, Del Zotto played in his third year as a pro and raised the bar considerably with career NHL highs in goals (10), assists (31), and points (41). Those numbers were higher than the ones that earned him All-Rookie status in 2009-10 and came at a time when he was focused on improving his defensive play as well. A minus-20 as a rookie, Del Zotto soared to a plus-20 rating this year. Here is a look back at five most outstanding moments from the past season.

No. 5 -- Oct. 18 at Vancouver

Del Zotto sets up Mike Rupp for 1-0 lead in third en route to 4-0 victory.

No. 4 -- Feb. 5 vs. Flyers at MSG

Del Zotto breaks 2-2 tie at 1:33 of third period with the game-winning goal.

No. 3 -- March 28 at Winnipeg

Del Zotto's first NHL shorthanded goal ignites Rangers' comeback in 4-2 win.

No. 2 -- May 12 vs. Caps at MSG (Round 2, Game 7)

Del Zotto scores the eventual game-winner for 2-0 lead at 10:05 of the third period.

No. 1 -- March 30 vs. Canadiens at MSG

Del Zotto's two goals, assist in 200th NHL game spark team's 50th win of season.
